Medieval Festival in Vicopisano XVI – Pisa

Saturday 3 and Sunday, September 4th will be held in Vicopisano – Siena – the sixteenth edition of the Medieval Festival.
The first edition of the Medieval Festival of Vicopisano dates back to 1996. In recent years the festival has grown in importance, especially regarding the ideal blend of the beautiful historic city of Vicopisano and effective reconstruction of the medieval implemented by the participants.
Historical groups, medieval settlements, itinerant musicians and theatrical theme are strongly decreased in an architectural context of rare beauty, making it even more impressive and intense participation in this Festival which, despite a deliberate playful approach, tries to make the viewer empathize in the Middle Ages.
Clearly you can not miss the catering aspect, so the streets of the village and the most beautiful places are located in the taverns where our clowns are waiting for a light meal (much in line with the period!), While outside the the festival circuit is a large area equipped for those who want a full meal.

Procession and Exposition of the Holy Girdle in Prato town

On 8 September 2011, the Nativity of the Virgin Mary, will be held in Prato the traditional Procession and Exposition of the Sacred Belt town.
On the morning of 8 September, accompanied by the Banner of the City Municipal Valletti, will visit the cathedral for the solemn pontifical. In the end, in front of the cathedral will be the traditional and meaningful ceremony of delivery of the Commune to the Chapel of the Candles of the Girdle.
On the afternoon some of the old town squares will be held performances by musicians and flag-waving guests to courtship as well as a show of “Falconry Teacher” with the exhibition of hunting hawks and golden eagles.
The procession will start, as is the custom, in the evening at 20.30. with the participation of many groups and multi-colored representations of municipalities from all parts of Tuscany, with great participation of musicians and flag-wavers that will make rich and festive event.
After the arrival of the Procession in the Piazza del Duomo, there will be Exposition of the Girdle.
The public will remain after the arrival of the procession in the streets waiting for the Exposition of the SS. Belt and the blessing from the pulpit by Donatello, can follow the whole ceremony which is held in the Chapel of the Sacred Belt, via a big screen that this year will be placed in the square by the Municipality.
This year the Municipality of Prato wanted to close the town’s most important event, with a big fireworks show music of great dramatic impact and emotional, from the Emperor’s Castle, retracing the great scenic charm of other editions, which have left I remember a big exciting city. The show will be visible only by the square of Prisons, also from the side of Viale Piave Via Frascati and the formwork until the Middle Ages, as the shooting of fireworks will take place from the center of the castle and therefore highly visible from all sides.
